Those smiles
Will float you 1,000 miles
Up the Blue Nile
It's reward
For staying on the grind
After you've run and fought
The good fight
Championed a good cause
By flaunting your vibes
Forced to flee only escaping
By the skin of your teeth.
But those smiles
Are a mile wide
Of the reality
Of their ordeal,
How much they've been thru
And now their true
Color shines thru
From lost to teaching school
To raising an educated troop
That will get in the good fight
The fight
For refugee rights,
To leave no one behind,
And to be a light
That blurs the lies.
