Memory
returns
And
ushers in sheaves of unrelenting reminisces;
Assurances
of an uninterrupted flow of rust,
A déjà vu of residue experiences.
Kissing
the jinxed feet of a fallible will,
Tomorrow
sprawls in yesterday's grime.
Strength
of mortals struggle on bended knee
In a
time when the battle for hope is on the line.
Men who
fought a common foe side by side
For one
solitary noble cause,
Drunk on
Independence's wine
Now lend
a hand in annihilating a brother's life
It's the
indignity of liberty's intrinsic worth
Still not
a single patriot seeks out the fault.
All we
like sheep straying to the slaughterhouse,
Getting in
each other’s hair like some political louse
Feel the
intensity of the hate within cutting us to strips
In a
silent terrifying implosion.
From the
same stock we have been conceived.
Black man
thirsty for black man’s blood.
Reputed brothers
of one paternal womb
Plunging
headlong together into anarchy’s tomb.
We forget
to remember
Labors of
heroes past.
