Still I Try

I aint there yet.
I aint even trying to think that
Ama get there before my death.
But I press forward beyond my past
And still I try.

This is not about failing,
I aint scared of that idea
Cause it takes skill to handle falling
And since I believe impossible is a dare,
Still I try.

If it was easy nobody would give up
Even if they did I’ll never find my strength
If I never give challenges my best shot.
I’ll tackle the pedal with my last breath
And still I try.

I want to set the record straight,
Try my hands on anything my heart beats for
Stay on my grind until I get paid.
I know my struggles may not amount to much
But still I try.

Still I try
I don’t want any regret at the end of my life.
Still I try
I understand failure means not trying.
Still I try
To know a thing’s worth I gatto make it work.
Still I try
The sweetest feats are those won by endeavor.
Still I try.

Because I Rise!

Should it come as a surprise that you do not recognize the values that are the makings of me?
The purest aspects of a person are not necessarily appealing to the eye of the beholder.

Mystery, by so many, is perceived as calculated confusion. Any appearance of class that baffles their fickle fancy is summarily blasphemed.

Such excesses do not ruffle my feathers even if I find I'm way out of my element. I got my priorities rearranged and I will not in anyway, not by one flickering iota alter my resolve and that’s . . .

Because I rise!

Consequences of defiance may muster all the forces of a threat.
But I am blind to consequences and I shut my mind to threats . . .

Because I rise!

When the fullest realizations of who you are lights upon your consciousness, it's like a feeling comin' home, and it arrives with the sensation of sun rising on a land of fairytales. And right then, your tiny atmosphere seizes the vista of a regained paradise.

The strength to withstand struggles is offshoot of our capacity: that persistent attitude that we can go on. Else we'd wither before the heat of pressure comes thro'. Our battles with personal demons grow fierce. But you oughto know they only confront us . . .

Because we rise!

Living on the edge of time makes a demand on my resources; I'm like atlas on bended knees with the weight of the world pressing on my shoulders. Some days, the skies are blue, at other times, I'm having the blues.

Courage is strong only if there is something worth standing up for and hope survives and perseveres when there is a possibility of redeemable expectations. Still, my faith rekindles embers of yet-to-be seen certainties. Then, the fact hit me like breakers overwhelming a crowded beach that I keep on holding on only . . .

Because I rise!

Hard headed adversity seldom comes singly. And for every progress in my pilgrimage, I am compensated by a multiplication of opposition. But I ain’t runnin' 'cause I know the reason they keep hating is . . .

Because I rise!

What would a sophisticated armed attack on a cripple, prove? Isn't it crystal the poor guy couldn't defend himself not to mention posing a threat?

What's the sense in that?

Arsenal of ammunition and weapons of warfare are used against lethally armed and dangerous men. So, I know why they keep coming is . . .

Because I rise!

You seem to find it an impossible thing to visualize. Is it really so difficult to grasp that the ideas I represent possess magnetic properties to attract opposition? That repression would hurt his back to bring me down . . .

Because I rise?

I wouldn't dare exist in another's imagination. I would endure a million light years of sarcasm if it takes me that long to break free.

I would climb a mountain to swim an ocean and be the martyr of my own motion. It's true. By now, I betcha know the reason why . . .

Remarkable Adventures

Writing can be a terrific adventure. Moments fueled by unfolding layers of exciting activities. Pages after pages of stolen mysteries whipped up by the sound of paper.

Faced with the possibility of failure a writer feels the eyes of discouragement stalking his will with a white hot glare. I have had moments of doubt myself. Still do, sometimes. I think the one single ingredient that kept me going were Maya Angelou’s words, ‘There ain’t nothing to it, but to do it’. Yes, there’s no other way to keep up but by keeping up. When we finally find the courage to go on, we would have achieved an endless access into the streams of our creativeness.

Our journeys in the world of the imagination can be tinged with a bit of magic. But first, we must find a way around the obstacles and get our creative juices boiling. Finding what works for you, the subject that makes you tick would be one step in the right direction.

Often, we find ourselves picking someone else’s vines, writing stuff that’s totally off limits to us. And many times, the stuffs we write about may not even spark one single flame of interest inside us.

Beating our tracks back to familiar grounds could very well set us off to a good start. I’ve learned how tough it is to be inventive wading through strange waters. When you walk into a topic you have no business in the world messing in, you’re stuck. You just might want to give up on writing entirely, thinking it’s not for you. It takes just that little effort to run into a wall.

When we are unblocked we can have remarkable and diverse adventures - Julia Cameron.

The point is to find a primary genre and put a tag on it. From that instant forward, the block becomes somewhat of a myth. Discovery of a genre we can naturally adapt to unplugs our muse, puts the wind at our backs, and then it slides us into the embrace of remarkable adventures.

Keep the scribbler's pen bleeding!
