Upward Mobility

Courtesy: Pexels

Ama keep holding on

Cause I believe in love

I'm pressing forward

Forgetting the past, I run

Towards the goals before my eyes

Till I wrap my fingers around

The Mark of the Prize,

I'm holding faith down

I've set my eyes on my High Calling

And I'm keeping up my upward mobility.

Killer Current

Courtesy: webstockreview

Raw passion consumed by a fierce loyalty

An obsessive commitment to humanity

Deep like an underwater river with

A killer current that spurts from within.

We Took The Long Way Home

We took the long way home
It’s been tough losing sight
Of where we’re wandering from
Tougher to keep home in sight
We are not losing a war
To the horrors that gut us
But in very generation
Race of man must make a decision
To keep the faith
And rebuff the woos of fate

We may get so used to love
That we take it for granted
We forget what it cost us
To get mankind educated
On love on compassion n’ kindness
On mutual dependence and pursuit of happiness
We have been stripped bare
Shrouded things have been made aware

In a way
The dilemma which plague
Our race goes to show
We took the long way home.

Shake The Dead

Shake the dead
In their shrouds
Blaze their bed
Provoke a crowd
Burn the memoir
Of a revolutionaire
It shall rewrite
Itself on the walls of your mind
Publish the podcast
Go forth with a blast
Raise a riot
Wake the bigot
Punch down walls
Till duplicity falls
March on pompous grass
Rout the pampered crass
If you get knocked down
Stand up downside up
Until up is down
And down is up.

This Is The Day

This is the day
When I take this body
And squeeze it into change
And make a life flourish

This is the day
When my story n’ glory
Get the lowdown on my faith
And translate my chemistry

This is the day
That I will remake
As I take the sun
And reverse its course

This is the day
That I seal my fate
And I’ll run the race
And maintain in grace

This is the day
That I raise a mountain
From a grain of sand
And make my entrance grand

I'm Good

What does it matter
if things go wrong
I'll push it harder
and lift up a song
I know where drama lives
and I was born to breathe
I'll cut raw courage loose
and hit that rendezvous
rearrange stress and dress
it down for good
I'm good.

R U Done?

Let me know when you're done
Believe me I can wait.
You can stall for so long
Cause it's fish or cut bait.
Don't wanna make excuses
All this jive just confuses.
But I'm not letting myself down
I'll get this or go underground
You give me a runaround
Make me feel I'm from downtown.
No matter what it takes
Ama bend it or break.
So let me know what's up
And I will fill my cup.

Mr. Maybe I Can

Maybe I'll buy a rose
Hang it down by a hose
Maybe I'll play host
To so many ghosts
Maybe I'll raise a toast
To bodies burned to roast.

Maybe I'll walk a mile
It just might make you smile
Maybe I'll cross the line
And watch the shapes align
Maybe I'll bide my time
And thus confide my crime.

Maybe I'll make demands
See if it makes amends
Maybe I'll do the dance
And damn the consequence
Maybe I'll take a chance
With life and make big plans.

Adage

Rage rips off the page
Age unplugs the gauge
Adage makes a sage.
A cage is my stage
My wage serves a page.
Gage will boost rampage
Engage like a mage.

Grand Life

Life could sometimes be grand
Like the moon in the pool
You might trap in your palm,
You could rise if you stoop.
A friend may be waiting
At the lip of the cliff,
And the burden you bear
Just might be a bear hug
From somebody who cares
And dares to pick you up.
Life may give the answer
To questions you may have
And the puzzle may solve
Itself and give you pause.
But you will always have
A hand to hold your hand.

Terms

I will engage life on my terms
Cherish each new day like totems,
I'll paste my face on each moment
Carve a smile on the firmament.
Hard tackle troubles as they come
Rip off obstacles like a bomb
Ask questions cause I'm a genius
Take suggestions from amateurs.
I'll climb a peak against the wind
Spread my wings n' I'm gone with the wind.
I've heard it said, life's a bitch,
No bones I'll put it on a leash
And then I'll carve a niche
In the eye of the storm and relish.

Smile

Let me see that curve
Like the crescent moon
With its back to the ground.
Ditch 'em on the curb
Throw away that gloom
And smack-dab knock 'em out.
When push comes to shove
You light up a room
Filled up with deadbeat crowd.
And you bring me love,
Add bounce to my mood
And then you clear my frown.
Like corn on the cob
It's natural with you;
A joy that goes around.
Like the sun above
You tone up men's attitude
Yes, you do it without a sound.
Yo! Show off that curve
Like a drop of honeydew,
Refresh hearts that are down.

What the Thunder Said

Getting caught in the rain
Is just like getting brained,
You go against the grain
To pick up a new strain.
The harder you ball
The harder they come.
Tryna make it alone
And the world picks a bone
It only rains on you
When friends don't stay true.
You get a runaround in sludge,
All hell runs you off in smudge.
You are the antihero
Of a legend the world composed
And it rains and pours and rains
Until your heart unplugs the drains
Through a flood of all the pains
Then your eyes cloud and it rains.

Rather

I’d rather have simple human dignity,
Than so much pretentious prosperity
I’d rather take death over dishonor
And a multi-billion dollar net worth.
I’d rather be weak and human
And live from my heart to my hand
Than be rich and superhuman
And make zombies of my fellowman.
I do not have the heart
To stab myself in the back
Nor would I play the part
Of a self-destructive Judas.
I keep a simple creed;
I will not feed on greed.
I’d rather have my dignity.
I’d rather have my presence of mind,
Than be the owner of a goldmine.
I’d rather construct a real life
Than color one with shades of lies.
I’d rather be somebody
Than be bought with snot money.
I’d rather have human dignity
Than the hypocrisy of riches.

Connoisseur

In the voice of a refugee who's lost all.

I find refuge within myself
I must turn to nobody else
I got big promises to keep
And no one else will do for me
I harbor solace inside my heart
I must or quit before I start.
I must take this soul odyssey
I must proceed by what I see
And taste and touch, by what I bleed.
I must find refuge within me
I lost it all except for me.
I’ve come from a place of misery
I find refuge within no one,
There is no one who is someone
Who dares lift me outta this one;
I am the reason I go on.
I must seek no source of comfort
Besides the man in the mirror
I severed all ties with this world,
Now I’m a connoisseur in horrors.

I Will Thrive

I will thrive
I know I've arrived
Cause I'm still alive
After all the bull I survived.
I heard all that jive
About me not being the type
To cliffhang or dive.
Is that just because I rise?
I'm kinda still here so bite
Me or keep it sealed tight.

I will thrive
And no shying will jeopardize
The shine of my sunrise.
I will thrive
And my past can't downsize
The lesson which edifies.
I will not be deprived,
I'll have my soul revived.
For awhile I strive,
In time I will thrive.

Don't Knock This Feeling

This feeling that I can go on
Burns deep inside charging protons,
Calling out the things which are not
Giving 'em substance and a thought.
If I get to the mountaintop,
I will look down on the debris
And name each rubble in fashion
There's one way to count my blessing.
Because you can't knock this feeling.
It's like being wired; it's electric.

Rhythm

Dance
Like the wind on the sands of Gaza.
Take a chance
With life and let fate take your order.
Loving arms
Await to pick you when you falter.
No offense
If you know better, then do better.

Break of Exit

Let me into your grief
Lift up the gates to your dungeons
Let the shadows snatch me off the cliff.
Willingly I'll take the plunge.

This may yet be your finest hour,
When you ride the storm to your power.

I'll wrap you in my warmth till you ache
I'll get a stranglehold on that grief
And nudge and whisper till it breaks
And sweeps you into the arms of relief.

Let me hold you tight,
These arms will lay your burdens by.

I Fight My Own Battles

I fight my own battles.
I've not been known to lose a wager
Never backed down from a scuffle,
My intuition cuts like a razor.
I wrestle armed inner demons
For a shot of inspiration.
I live from my heart
I live for my heart.
I don't cry for help in danger
I get creative with my anger.
I know who the enemy is
So I die daily for practice.
I'm careful not to lose form;
A wink of an eye and I'm done.
I know how treacherous is
The clamber for the top.
I'll hang by the skin of my teeth,
This is personal, and I can't stop.
