The valley we walk

Harbors a shadow with claws

We must ensure

We walk our talk

If we must be assured

Of reaching the mountain top.

The sight of the valley

Makes us long for the plains

And the evidence of things not seen

Makes us confront the mountains,

Every rapid

Has its shallow

As every valley

Has its shadow.

The shadow may keep it claws

But we will walk on and not bulk.

Love is the light of the world

And the light shines in the darkness

And the Shadow of darkness

Cannot comprehend or overcome

The light issuing from love.

Surround your souls with compassion

Conveyed on the wings of passion,

Fuel your talk with impassion.

We will rise from our valleys

Over the plains

Above all malice,

And from the towering mountains,

Pure and unalloyed faith

In humanity will tumbledown

And give indifference a runaround.

Every valley shall be filled

And every mountain unearthed

And all eyes shall together perceive

The coming of the glory on Earth.

That golden river

Wearing our Jordans,

We'll tingle with fever

And we'll all gladly

Welcome the shiver.

Embraced by family

Chaos wrapped around

Our little finger

We'll knock hate to the ground. 

By the time

This night is over,

Written in golden letters shine,

How we became overcomers

Will be a story of wonder. 

We will come to that river

We will part that river

Singing songs of our Redeemer,

We will cross that river.

Oh happy day

When the last little fox

Will fall down slain

And we study war no more

On that hallelujah day!

It's the last day of March

In the year twenty twenty one

Not the last day of the civil rights march. 

How we keep goin' on

From Breonna Taylor

To George Floyd,

To voter suppression,

Yet some say, 'these protests have begun to cloy.'

But when gun  laws

Go easy on restrictions

Then the outlaws

Are absolved of all moral obligations

But the license to kill

With a possibility of probation

And the level of blood spill

Fuels the inferno of demonstrations. 

Asians are getting snapped

School kids are constantly kidnapped

#StopAsianHate is trending

#JusticeForBreonna is pending

Covid origins is mind-bending

And the global update is heart-rending. 

Can we steal one minute of silence?

It's all we need to check this violence.
