Day 15: April 15

A mother reconciles with one of the 21 Chibok girls recently released
by Boko Haram. This poem is written in her POV.

She touched me.
And brought me sweet release.
And o, the visions that lit my mind
Would make blind men despise sight.

She stepped out of bondage
On a will that matched the mileage,
She touched me and every cold feeling
Thawed like wax and I find I can still believe.

She touched me.
And those pained years are but one minute.
And my fears bled then ran along like a river;
My joys will overflow the banks of the Niger.

She’s made of steel,
A heart that’s dying to live;
All her parts bind because she believed—
That’s what I felt when she touched me.

She touched me.
And brought me sweet release.
And o, the visions that lit my mind
Would make blind men despise sight.

IntShoWriMo 2015: Day 15: Curiosity is a Provable Fact

IntShoWriMo 2015: Day 15 Prompts:
You’re a private investigator who is down on his or her luck and hasn’t had a client in months. Suddenly the phone rings. It’s a kid. The kid proposes a silly case to you. Normally you wouldn’t take such a ridiculous job (from a kid, no less), but you need the work, so you accept. But what you uncover during the investigation is a much, much bigger problem than the kid (and you) ever expected. — WritersDigest.Com

Day 15: Story

Courtesy: stumbleupon (modified)

This is my story:
Exalted by the riches of poverty
To a stunning ledge of breathtaking wonders
Where I stand and survey wealth by fear conquered.
Steeped into iniquity from birth
It doesnt alter the fact Ive been programmed from the start.
Unhurried in rising but mounted on pinions.
Like a solitary tear of joy,
Lonely but never in despair.
I stand boldly before forces harmless to destroy
Reconstructing the ruins of hope deferred
Stirring up into fiercest flame a dying flair.
The difference of one man
Raising an army as vast as the dunes of the Sahara,
Accomplishing the soul's singular errand.
Until my job is done,
Until I come through with a song,
I can't back down.
I'm not gonna pack up and leave town.
I gatto keep standing strong
Until my strength is used up.
Cause it won't be long
Before my story is told,
Before an army that would overturn the world
Is raised from the rubble
By the simple details of my struggle.

IntShoWriMo 2013: DAY 15

Courtesy: Wikipedia

Today’s Prompt:
You are 15 years old and, while still living with your parents, you discover a secret room in your house. It is filled with all sorts of strange things, but one thing in particular catches your eye. It’s a love letter to your mom from someone who isn’t your dad. What’s more peculiar is that it is dated five years into the future. Write a scene where you confront your mom about the letter.

A mother and son try to stop their husband and father from catching his flight.

It would have been easier if the man was not one of those folks who lived only by what their five senses tell them.
Mother and son sedate the man in their lives and hope he wakes up late and misses his flight.
But what if the forces of nature act in favor of the man and urge him on towards his final descent?

Day 15: Incidentals

Photo: stratogen.net

What if I could fly
But my wings were wax in a thermal sky?
What if I could race across the Sahara
But my feet were like a painted terrapin’s flipper?
And what if I had the power to invent a new civilization
But my IQ was of prehistoric variation?

What if I could spit poetry like Virgil
But the sound of my voice was an alligator’s tranquil?
And what if I was feet to the stars
But my dream to be a legend was stalked by a fragile heart?
And what if I was the seal of authority
Yet kept up a vagrant clueless about my nobility?

And if I could skip 1,000 walls
But my assurances don’t jibe with my balls?
What use would that be, if I took a fall?
What if I relished a unique personal fantasy
Yet was scared witless of facing the incidental ecstasy?
What if I could anticipate seeds of the future in events of the past

Yet came short of coherence to watch it come to pass?
What if I could explode into a million seeds
But faltered when confronted by the impact?
What if the detail of my future was the beauty of paradise
Yet I couldn’t begin one day at a time?
And what if I could live the extraordinary life

But copped out for suicide?
What if I could alter the aftermath in these lines
Yet I’d rather not give it a try?
And what if I never mentioned it outright
Would you have seen the you represented in the I?
Would you detect the lie behind which you did hide?
