Hashtag

Isn't it kinda sad how most hashtags
are victims of police brutality?

You put a tag

On a living dog

And an hashtag

On a dead Dawg

Now said corpse

Most certainly died wrong

Mosta the most, at the hands of a cop,

Elijah McClain

Didn't get the memo:

It's a crime to go out shopping late

Especially, if you're black and alone,

Cops came and rearranged his face

They put him on chokehold

Now he's a hashtag

Meaning he filled a body bag

George Floyd

Was supposedly on opioid

During an ongoing forgery

Officer Chauvin knelt down on him leaning

Hard into his neck for over 9 minutes

While Floyd pleaded, 'I can't breathe.'

Chauvin killed him for a 20 dollar bill

George Floyd has being a hashtag

For a while, occupying a body bag,

Breonna Taylor was sleeping

When the cops came creeping

Serving no warrant, issuing no warning

Bullets flew then dipping,

Six of 'em cut thru Breonna's body

Now she a bulge in a body bag

Her name a set of letters duly hashtagged.

Young Ahmaud Arbery

Was killed for the crime of… wait for it

Jogging down the street

Now the three sorry ass cops

Tryna present past criminal records

To vindicate their asses in court

After they stashed him in a body bag

And translated him into a hashtag.

Emantic Bradford Jr. was in a mall

And there was multiple gunshots

Somebody called the cops

And tho a lot of people had their guns

Out the cops sighted and shot Bradford

Cause he was a black man

He had no right to bear arms,

And now all he is, is a hashtag

Resident of a body bag.

He had air fresheners

Hanging from his rearview mirror

That was Daunte Wright's fatal error

Dirt cheap cops pulled him over

Shot him then got him driving while dying

Till he crashed into the Brooklyn Center

Y'all can prove I ain't lying

Just tweet his name with a hashtag.

Adam Toledo

Bolted like a tornado

Down the alley between a school

And a church clutching his tool,

A trigger-happy cop on his tail

His face constricted with rage

He barked an instruction

And Toledo tossed his weapon,

Reached for the sky with empty hands

Still the cop slugged him in the chest, bam!

The 13 year old's a memory and a hashtag.

These tik tok cops

Be hiding under a copse

Of flawed state laws

Always pulling handguns

When they oughta draw handcuffs

Always the black and innocent

Getting caught in this predicament,

When you're alive you're trash bag

When you're dead you're a hashtag.

Language Of The Unheard

Courtesy: Newsweek.com
A riot is the language of the unheard. — Martin Luther King Jr.

If I speak my language

Will you turn off

The deliberate attention outage?

Or will the name calling

Kick in so you see an outrage?

So you end up reciprocating

By getting enraged

And summoning police

To forcefully engage?

Mister, if you don't speak

A word of my language

Y'all living in the wrong age

Right now, I'm spying the rain gauge

And it reads, 'A storm is coming.'

The sea of people are a-roaring.

When we rush in

Like a mighty flood

With our sweat falling

Like great drops of blood,

Because you failed

To hear our voice,

You shall be made

To heed our noise.

If there's one thing impossible

For the unbelieving to drown,

It is the incredible

Stomp of a royally pissed crowd.

We're about to bust that dam

And activate a total deluge

With streams of justice revamped,

Y'all mind's gon' get centrifuged.

We separate wheat from chaff,

 Legit empathy from a laugh

We gon' see eye to eye

On practical issues of life

It don't gatto be do or die

But social injustice is rife

In all crannies of our society.

This is the heat

The hard of hearing

Must be made to feel.

We ignoring the hating n' inequality

Too long it's starting to congeal.

We must adopt a language

That will place folks of all race

On the same page.
