Down in the flood of
remembrance
Is no country for repentance
There lies a remnant of Atlantis
Her people are grinning
apprentice
A culture downed in a watery
grave
A death culture buds in its
place
Remorse is a burden forgone
Regret is flung and done is
done
Down in the floods
There is only rusts
The decay of things long dead
Is the only custom down there
Its trellises are broken down
And its watchmen have rested
their brow
Down in the flood is a
kingdom
With seams woven into silence
Its native grass is moss
Its royal banner is lichen
Akpan
